AMC 10 — frequently asked questions

How is the AMC 10 scored?

You earn 6 points for each correct answer, 1.5 points for each blank, and 0 for each wrong answer, for a maximum of 150 points.

How do I qualify for the AIME from the AMC 10?

Students who score high enough on the AMC 10 — typically the top few percent — are invited to sit the American Invitational Mathematics Examination (AIME).

Should I leave questions blank on the AMC 10?

Because a blank answer is worth 1.5 points and a wrong answer is worth 0, it can be better to leave a question blank than to guess randomly when you can't eliminate any choices.
